FAQ

Email marketing questions, answered straight

The questions we hear before, during, and after an engagement, with real numbers and named tools instead of hedging. If yours is not here, the how Email Path works page covers the method end to end, and the pricing page covers the money.

Getting started

Onboarding, ownership, and the platforms we run

What does onboarding look like and how fast do you ship?

You give us read access to your ESP. Inside week one we audit authentication, list health, and flow coverage, then run a GlockApps seed test, so you get a scored findings report whether or not you continue. Deliverability fixes and the first two core flows, welcome and abandoned-cart, usually go live inside 30 days. Our four-step method is laid out on the how Email Path works page.

Do you write the copy and design the emails?

Yes. We write subject lines and body copy, design the templates, build the flows, and set the segmentation and send logic inside your account. You approve everything before it goes live. We also run the A/B tests, so each flow ships with at least one live experiment against your own baseline rather than a generic industry average that may not match your list.

Who owns the account and the list?

You do, fully. We work inside the ESP account you already hold, so every flow, template, segment, and subscriber stays under your login and your billing. There is no proprietary platform to get locked into and nothing to migrate out of if we part ways. If you cancel, the work we built stays exactly where it is, in your account, owned by you.

Which email platforms do you support?

We work in Klaviyo, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Brevo, and MailerLite, plus a few others on request. We do not move you to a new platform to earn a referral fee. If a migration genuinely fits your list size, flow needs, and budget, we will say so and handle it, but the default is to run the account you already pay for.

Deliverability & the inbox

The inbox, the sender rules, and how we measure them

Why did my open rate stop being reliable?

Apple Mail Privacy Protection, launched in 2021, pre-loads tracking pixels and registers opens that never happened. Apple Mail accounted for roughly 49.8% of all opens (Litmus, August 2021), so a large share of your reported opens are machine-generated. We treat open rate as a soft signal and lean on clicks, click-to-open rate, and revenue per recipient to judge what is actually working.

What are the Gmail and Yahoo sender rules I have to meet?

For bulk senders, roughly 5,000-plus messages a day to personal Gmail, both require SPF, DKIM, and DMARC with a passing alignment, a one-click unsubscribe under RFC 8058 on marketing mail, and a spam-complaint rate held under 0.30% with 0.10% as the real target. A mailto-only unsubscribe does not satisfy the rule. Our deliverability service sets these up and watches them.

How do you measure whether emails reach the inbox?

We run GlockApps seed tests that place messages across 30-plus providers and report actual inbox placement, not just the delivery rate your ESP shows. The benchmark to beat is rough: about one in six marketing emails never reaches the inbox, near 84% global placement (Validity, 2024). We track placement per send and act the moment it drifts down toward a spam-folder problem.

My placement dropped. Can you fix a damaged sender reputation?

Usually, yes. A drop normally traces to broken authentication, a spam-complaint rate creeping toward the 0.30% Gmail limit, or sending into stale addresses. We tighten SPF, DKIM, and DMARC, often moving DMARC to enforcement, sunset inactive subscribers, and warm the domain back up gradually. In one rebuild, moving DMARC to enforcement lifted placement from 88% to 97% over the following weeks.

Pricing & working together

Retainers, cancellation, and reporting

How much does it cost and is there a contract?

Three monthly retainers: Starter at $1,500, Growth at $3,200, and Scale at $5,800, with setup included and no long lock-in. Billing runs month-to-month after a 90-day initial term, which is the window the foundation and first flows need to show real movement. Custom enterprise quotes cover multi-brand and migration work. The full breakdown sits on the Email Path pricing page.

Can we pause or cancel?

After the 90-day initial term you are month-to-month, so you can cancel with notice or pause if you hit a quiet season. Because the work lives in your own ESP account, pausing or leaving costs you nothing in lost assets: every flow, template, and segment stays live under your login and keeps running on its own until you decide to restart with us.

How do you report results?

Every Monday you get a plain-English report: what we sent, what it earned, inbox placement from the latest seed test, and what we are testing next. We track revenue per recipient, click-to-open rate, complaint rate, and flow contribution against your own baseline. Growth adds weekly AI insights and Scale adds predictive send-time and churn signals, so reporting depth scales with your tier.
